Thanks for stopping by, and for taking the time to check out this site.
My name is Michael, though I mostly go by Mike, and that’s how I’ll introduce myself here. My background with German is straightforward: I grew up in Germany, in and around Gelnhausen, a small town about an hour northeast of Frankfurt.
I moved to the US at 15, and I’m proud that even after 25 years here, I’m still fully fluent — able to speak, read, and write with confidence in any setting. The clearest proof is the simplest one: I still go home every couple of years and pick right back up with family and friends without missing a beat.
My goal for this site is to share what I think matters most about learning German and help you build real, usable ability with the language. Since this is a blog, reading practice will come naturally along the way, but what I’m really after is giving you practical ways to immerse yourself in German without needing to move to a German-speaking country or know someone fluent. I want this to be enjoyable, not just informative. German is a genuinely fun language, and Germany carries a depth of history and tradition I’m looking forward to sharing with you, one post at a time.
